The year 2015 has been an exciting year for the Optimist Club of Gettysburg. As usual, our members held many fundraisers from the vastly popular Oyster & Shrimp Feed and Soccer Parking to the Gettysburg Optimist Annual Golf Tournament and Christmas Magic Show. With Club members paying their own membership dues and activities fees throughout the year, 100% of all the funds raised were donated back to youth programs and activities in the Gettysburg community.  The club has donated more than $30,000 this year to programs like DEAR, RIF, the Gettysburg School District Outdoor Environmental Education Program, Gettysburg Little League, Optimist Youth Basket Ball and GHS Stars program, just to name a few; and 2016 is shaping up to be an even more active and successful year.

The 2016 Optimist Basketball program will kick off in January with the Oyster feed to follow on March 19.  And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Annual Optimist Golf Tournament on May 19 at the Links at Gettysburg.

Thank you to all of our members and sponsors for making 2015 unforgettable! We look forward to sharing a fabulous 2016 with all of you and the youth of the Gettysburg Community as we strive together to “Bring Out The Best In Kids”.

Appreciate all of the Optimist Club members that participated Salvation Army Bell ringing at Walmart on 4 Dec.   My 12:00 to 1:30 pm time slot was not too cold but the shade made it colder than I thought.   I bet the late night ringers were a little cold!!    Again Thank you so much.      Bruce Bradshaw
