Optimist Basketball Continues January 11, 2020

Reminder the Optimist Basketball season continues this Saturday, January 11, 2020. The schedule is as follows;
Grade K-3 Boys 9-10 am
Grade K-3 Girls 10-11am
Grade 4-6 Boys & Girls 11 AM -12pm.

We will be distributing packets for picture day, January 18.

All program information including late sign ups may be found at the following link.  Applications are still being accepted but one must be filled out prior to play.

Girls Grades 4-6 Time Change

The Gettysburg Optimist Club is mixing it up a bit this year. To accommodate participant demand, the basketball committee has decided to host both the boys in grades 4-6 and the girls in grades 4-6 from 11AM to Noon.  There will no longer be sessions from noon to 1 pm.

Registration is still open! Sign up today! We look forward to seeing you on the court January 4, 2020 at the Gettysburg Area Middle School.

Christmas Holiday Party December 11, 2019

The Optimist Club of Gettysburg met on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary Refectory. The Refectory was decorated in the Christmas Spirit.

A fantastic dinner was prepared by Biggerstaff Catering. President Marci Cropp welcomed 37 members and guests along with 8 children. Brent Smith opened our evening with the invocation.

Evening Agenda:

  1. Members of our Gettysburg High School Orchestra provided us with beautiful Christmas music before dinner. Tom presented the orchestra with a check.
  2. Before dinner Lyne Aurand provided a craft table for all children.
  3. The children, members, and guests were led in singing Christmas carols by Wayne in hopes that if Saint Nicholas was making a practice Christmas run, he might hear us and stop to visit. To our surprise Santa Claus did make a splashing appearance and all of the children had the chance to meet with Santa and receive a gift. Once again it was a great night for all.

Magic Show Reminder

The Gettysburg Optimist Club will be hosting their Annual Magic Show on December 13, 2019 at 6:30 pm in the Lincoln Elementary School Cafeteria.  The event is FREE to all youth.  Come one, Come All for a magical evening.

Basketball registration will also be available.

Basketball Sign Up December 14, 10 AM- 1 PM GAMS

It’s that time of year. The weather is changing and the Gettysburg Optimist Club is getting in gear for Optimist Basketball.  Registration is OPEN online.  Youth in grades 1-6 are welcome to participate in this free basketball program. Sessions begin January 4th at the Gettysburg Middle School gym and will occur every Saturday through the end of February.  Children can be registered by the following:

1) Fill out the Sign Up form online (One child per form submittal please)
2) Complete a printed registration form and mail it to PO Box 3035 Gettysburg, PA 17325.
3) Attend a Sign Up Session December 14 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Gettysburg Middle School to fill out the required paperwork.
