Long Time Optimist Member Passes
William “Bill” Sentz, 94 of Gettysburg, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Bill was initiated into the Optimist Club of Gettysburg in1959, just one year after the organization was chartered. Bill served as Optimist Club President in 1968-1969 and was a life member of the local club. Active until recent years, Bill was always interested in following the many youth projects conducted by the Optimist Club of Gettysburg.
Bill was born April 5, 1923 and spent his entire life as a poplar and well know Gettysburg resident. Always looking to serve his community through various service organizations Bill was an active and enthusiastic sportsman who was always ready to relate an interesting hunting or fishing experience.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Joy Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, with Pastor Peter Naschke officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to SpiriTrust Hospice, 260 W. High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325; or Barlow Fire Company, 2005 Taneytown Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
