Stacey Green provided a delicious dinner which all enjoyed.

Speaker, Lieutenant Governor Sue Grimm shared a slide presentation regarding her experiences in Sierra Leone, Africa. She was sponsored by the United Methodist Church. Her  presentation was entitled “A World Away” and focused on children’s activities in a village. It was very interesting and informative.

Marci commented:
Pick of the County nominations are complete. I’m happy to report that the Optimist Club of Gettysburg was selected as one of the top 5 in the Non profit category.

Now we need votes to secure the Top position and carry on the legacy in our category! We need voters! Here’s how!
– Go to https://www.gettysburgtimes.com/pick_of_the_counties/#// or pull the form from the Gettysburg Times Newspaper
– Select Helping Hands
– Vote Optimist Club of Gettysburg for Non-Profit

While voting, why not vote for other member’s businesses and organizations? I see where many Optimist members are competing for some great awards; ACNB, Bigerstaff’s, RMF (2 categories), Rosie’s (4 categories), Salzman King and many more. Please share the love. After all… they support the Optimist Club all year long!!! We are stronger together!

Good morning Gettysburg Optimist,
This is a reminder of our upcoming meeting this Wednesday, June 7th, 6:00 PM at Savorhood Gettysburg. For those members who have not experienced the Savorhood dining, you are in for a treat. Steve will have an area roped off for our Optimist contingency on the deck.

Keep in mind a portion of this meeting will be for officer nominations and yes we may need to consider past presidents as possible candidates. There are benefits in past Presidents serving in that they bring experienced leadership to help in guiding Gettysburg’s great “Optimist Mission’ in serving approximately 8,000 youth in the Adams County Community.

Hope to see you all there!

Awards Board

A huge “Thank You” to our generous sponsors, players and donors. The Optimist May 18, 2023 Golf Tournament was a success.  The Clyde E. Williams Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament was sold out.  For those that were able to register, they enjoyed a beautifully sunny day on the course at The Links At Gettysburg!

Please find event photos on our facebook page.

The Optimist members thank everyone for attending and for supporting the youth in our community by participating in this event!  Thank you!
